Situated in a humid continental climate Indianapolis has four distinct seasons.
Spring and autumn both have temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The spring is rather unpredictable though, with rain showers followed by snow showers, and sometimes the temperature drops below freezing in March and April.
Summer is hot and humid and sometimes temperatures reach 90. July averages 75, and August has been known to be much hotter.
Winter is cold with temperatures rarely above freezing. The annual snowfall in Indianapolis is 27 inches.
During the spring and summer there is an average monthly rainfall of 4 inches per month.
